This project involved the rehabilitation and upgrade of nearly all the facilities at Pumping Station No. 41, operated by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. Commissioned in 1965, this station manages the drainage of a section of Highway A-30 as well as the access ramps of Highway A-116.

The work carried out included:

  • Supply and installation of four submersible pumps, each with a pumping capacity of 733 L/s, allowing a total pumping flow of approximately 2,200 L/s with three pumps in operation;
  • Installation of a backup generator;
  • Implementation of new measurement and control instruments;
  • Rehabilitation of ventilation systems, process mechanics, plumbing, valves, and all electrical installations required for the proper functioning of the station.

This renovation project helps ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable stormwater management in the Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville area while reducing the impact of heavy rainfall events on the adjacent road network.

Project highlight:

One of the main challenges of the project was maintaining the required pumping capacity at all times to manage incoming flows during construction. To achieve this, a temporary pumping system was installed, including temporary pumps, the construction of a large cofferdam to allow dry work in the pumping well, and integration of a high-water-level alarm system.
