Val-Morin, Québec
The Val-Morin outfall replacement project aimed to increase wastewater treatment capacity by upsizing the pipe connecting the Val-David treatment plant to the discharge point downstream of Lake Raymond, protecting surrounding waters and preventing upstream releases.
The work carried out included:
- Construction of a flow measurement chamber at the plant inlet;
- Replacement of the bar screen and raw water pumps;
- Replacement of pond sealing membranes;
- Upgrade of the aeration system with fine bubble diffusers and new blowers;
- Installation of a coagulant dosing system for phosphorus removal;
- Addition of a disk filter and a UV disinfection unit;
- Construction of a treated water pumping well with accessories;
- Construction of a new upsized outfall pipe.
This project improves wastewater treatment performance, protects the quality of surrounding water bodies, and ensures environmental compliance of the facilities.
Project highlights:
- First of its kind in Québec, the installation of a disk filtration system ensures effective wastewater treatment without requiring expansion of the aerated pond;
- Execution of major interventions while keeping the treatment plant fully operational;
- Management of strict deadlines imposed by the client;
- Coordination of a wide range of processes and specialized equipment on a single site.
